https://e-journal.stai-ydi.ac.id/index.php/jitera/article/view/321

Tarekat is an integral part of the spiritual tradition in Islam that has had a profound influence on the formation of Muslim civilisation and society. As a manifestation of Sufi practice, tarekat not only plays a role in the spiritual aspect of individuals, but also makes important contributions in the social, cultural, and political fields throughout the history of Islam. This study aims to examine the origins of Sufi orders, their organisational development, and their impact on Islamic society from classical to contemporary times. The method used is a qualitative approach with library research, using primary sources such as classical works of Sufi scholars and historical documents, as well as secondary sources in the form of relevant modern academic literature. The results of the study show that Sufi orders initially grew out of simple individual Sufi practices, then developed into structured institutions with extensive networks and significant influence in i) the spread of Islam, ii) moral education, iii) the formation of cultural identity, and iv) resistance to colonialism. The implications of this research indicate that Sufi orders, although often viewed as conservative, have great potential as agents of spiritual development and contextual social transformation if interpreted dynamically and moderately within contemporary Muslim societies.
Zahraa Fairuz, Gebi Sintia Dewi, Weti Susanti

The rapid development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the behavior and morality of society, especially the younger generation. In the midst of the swift flow of information and global culture, moral crises such as hedonism, individualism, hate speech, and deviations from digital ethics are increasingly prevalent. This study aims to examine the role of the values of morals mahmudah (praiseworthy morals) in facing and counteracting the moral crisis that arises in the digital era, based on a review of contemporary Islamic literature. The method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from various scientific sources, including classical books, works of contemporary scholars, journal articles, and relevant digital documents. The results show that the values of morals mahmudah such as i) honesty, ii) patience, iii) trus tworthiness, iv) tawadhu', and v) self-control ('iffah) have an important contribution in shaping the character of digital users who are ethical, responsible, and have integrity. The cultivation of mahmudah morals in education, media, and social life has proven to be a spiritual and moral fortress in responding to complex digital challenges. The implication of this research is the need to revitalize moral education based on contextual and applicable Islamic values, in order to build a society that is not only digitally smart but also morally superior.
Asmira Wati, Zainal Asril, Rosi Guspita

https://e-journal.stai-ydi.ac.id/index.php/jitera/article/view/553

The development of Islam in Indonesia cannot be separated from the contribution of reformist figures who tried to respond to the challenges of the times with a contextual and solution oriented approach. One of the central figures in the history of Islamic reform in Indonesia is K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, the founder of Muhammadiyah, who is known for his reformist ideas in the fields of education, socio religious, and community empowerment. The reform movement he carried out was not only a response to the stagnation of the community, but also a constructive effort to build a rational, dynamic, and progressive Islamic civilization. This study aims to examine the dynamics of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan's reform movement, trace the main ideas underlying his struggle, and analyze the relevance of these thoughts in a contemporary context. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach through library research on primary and secondary sources, including historical works, Muhammadiyah documents, and academic literature on Islamic reform. The results of the study show that K.H. Ahmad Dahlan emphasized i) the renewal of Islamic thought through rational education, ii) tajdid in understanding religion, and iii) social charity as a form of Islamic teaching practice. The implications of this finding suggest the importance of reviving the spirit of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan's renewal in responding to the problems of today's people. The renewal movement that is based on Islamic values and aligned with the demands of the times becomes a strategic model in building a Muslim society that is progressive, has character, and is adaptive to global change.
Silvia Yuliandari, Awang Ringgit, Arif Ridha, Harza Lena
